Mon, 20 October 2008 I'm really glad someone emails me about these things- otherwise I'd never know! Yes, Seekers, the show has been nominated for another award. This one is the Podcast Award, which is also called the "People's Choice" award, since anyone can vote! I must be doing something right, because I never in a brazillion years would have expected to be nominated for such a popular award. Frankly I'm up against so many great shows, well, let's just say I'm practicing my "It's good just to be nominated" speech. ;-) You can see all the nominated shows in all of the categories right here: http://www.podcastawards.com/ Voting begins On Thursday (the 23rd). You can vote once-a-day, every day through November 6th. Thanks to those who nominated me- it means a lot. It always does. :-) ~Dani Category: general -- posted at: 12:12 PM Comments[0] |
Thu, 16 October 2008 Back from San Diego- and realized I had no time to write a show this week. Soooo.... I called up my partner in crime Dave and we chatted for a bit, because it's easier to talk to someone else with no script than alone. A bit ended up being an hour and a half! The hate machine kept churning over the past couple of weeks, so we started in on that, and began listening to voicemail from Nobilis. There is PLENTY more coming in part 2, but for now I give you Part 1. Recorded Wednesday, October 15th. Wed, 1 October 2008 A topic that has received a lot of discussion on the forums, important enough to bring as the subject of this week's show. With this presidential election we have a great opportunity to keep the discussion of race, racism, and hate in America where it should be- at the forefront. So let's do it.*Opening: Michael Savage and Glenn Beck *Dani's nervous *Headlines: -Democracy Now -Troy Davis case -Brandon McLelland -Anti-Muslim DVD handed out in swing states' newspapers -How is gassing a Mosque *not* a hate crime? -Obama effigy is hung from a tree -Denver police joke about beating protesters *Glenn Ford from Black Agenda Radio talks about recent poll on racism *So what exactly is this white privilege thing anyway? *Tim Wise knows his stuff *The most accurate analogy for Affirmative Action I've ever heard *Threads covering race in the TS Forum: -Nation on White Privilege -Is White Privilege the Problem? -Barack Obama and White Privilege -Hate Crimes Prevention Act *Privilege in many forms, it all equals power -Maria Niles Post on White Privilege *More clips from hate radio -Bill Moyers Journal story on hate talk radio *Music provided by Podsafe Music Network *"Hate", by Kyprios (WARNING: NOT WORK OR KID SAFE) *Back in two weeks- going to visit a friend in Cali over fall break! email: tsdiva AT gmail DOT com voicemail: 206-337-1026 forum: http://truthseekerscast.ning.com Comments[4] |
